Comicbook.com is reporting some rather optimistic news concerning the Star Wars movies.

For a long time Star Wars fans have been clamoring for Disney/Lucasfilm to re-release the original, unaltered cut of the first Star Wars trilogy, and Comicbook.com has now confirmed with two independent reliable sources that just such a plan is under way.
According to our sources, Disney has plans to release the original cut of the Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray. Our sources indicate that the project has been under way for quite some time, but it’s been challenging because of some damage to the original negatives they are utilizing. The goal is to release A New Hope, [The] Empire Strikes Back, and Return of Jedi in their complete, unaltered, original form without the redone special edition SFX.
Our sources did not have an exact date as to when the original cut of the Star Wars Trilogy would be released on Blu-ray, due to the challenges Disney has encountered in pulling everything together…

As many of you may know, there has been great debate and analysis from Star Wars fans about the loss of the original Star Wars movie's negatives and the retro-active editions made years after the initial release of the Trilogy. Michael Kaminski discusses the history of the original trilogy movies and the degredation and loss of the master film reels.

Dark Horse Comics, Inc. has done it again! On May 28th, 2014 Dark Horse Inc. released their eighth and final 32-page comic of what was an eight-segement minseries featuring the rough-draft screenplay written by George Lucas back in May 1974 known as The Star Wars Rough Draft.

On September 2013 Dark Horse Inc published their first release known simply as The Star Wars.

The trilogy's rough draft would later be adapted to become the first book of the trilogy, A New Hope. The art style used in the comic to retell this fantastic tale is true to the writing style of the story, written 39 years ago. The visuals were exactly as I a reader imagined them.

While the rough-draft can be read here at Trilogy Guide, the artistic interpretation afforded to the Dark Horse team is not something to be missed. This is truly going to be an awesome miniseries covering an important part of Trilogy history.

Check out Dark Horse's The Star Wars page on their website. You can buy the print and/or digital version from there.
